Our British Short hair

We have the adverts to thank that the British Short hair today is one of the best loved breeds of cat. Since the first Sheba advert through to the Catsan and Whiskas adverts, the demand for Blue and Silver-Tabby has dramatically increased.

Ok so the adverts have made the British Short hair well known, but  can they alone show all the attributes of the British Short hair?
No, it is not just there looks that makes them great pets, the secret is in there character :o) Cool and carefree is a good way to describe them, or how many cats do you know that have to be moved out of the way so you can hoover?
The British Short hair has a great understanding with other pets and especially children. 
Very rarely are they in a bad mood, and a difference to other cats is that they are not very sporty, you could say "Couch potatoes". however this could have something to do with their weight, 3-5 kg for females and 6-10 kg for the males.
The British Short hair is basically cozy and cuddly  :o)

 The standard

 Head

Round, with big cheeks, a short wide nose, small rounded ears that are spaced far apart.Big round wide open eyes. A strong chin that should be vertically aligned with the nose. The teeth should be uniformal.

 Body

 Strong and rounded , with a straight back and wide chest on short legs . The paws should be rounded and strong.

 Tail

 Medium length and thick, which should be  rounded at the tip.

 Fur

 Short and thick with a good under coat , if you stroke the fur the wrong way the hairs should stay up. The fur is to soft if it falls back down again.

 One color

 They should have no spots or patches , this is not allowed. Nose and the balls of there feet should also have be the same color.  Stripes are only allowed in kittens. The eye color. should be between copper and orange.

 Tabby

 The tabby cat should have  a basic main color. throughout. The stripes should have a good contrast to the main color. The eye color. should Correspond to the main color. of the cat  from green(golden and silver tabby)  to orange(red or blue tabby).

 Colourpoint

 The color. of the coat should be ivory or white and there should be no blemishes on the coat at all. The color. of the face , ears, paws and tail determines what colourpoint the cat is(silver,red etc). The eyes should be a strong clear blue.
